Author Guidelines

Submission Guidelines for Authors 
Gastroenterology and Hepatology Reports (GHR) welcomes original research, reviews, case studies, and editorials in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. Submissions should adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a smooth review and publication process.

1. Manuscript Preparation 
Manuscripts should be prepared in clear, concise English and formatted according to the following structure:

- Title Page: Include the title of the manuscript, authors' full names, affiliations, and contact information of the corresponding author.
- Abstract: Provide a structured abstract (up to 250 words) with the following subheadings: Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
- Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords for indexing purposes.
- Main Text: Organize the main text into the following sections:
  - Introduction
  - Methods
  - Results
  - Discussion
  - Conclusion
- References: List all references in AMA style (see Section 5).
- Figures and Tables: Submit figures and tables as separate files. Include legends for figures and descriptive titles for tables.

2. Formatting Requirements
- Font: Times New Roman, size 12.  
- Line Spacing: Double-spaced throughout the manuscript, including references and figure legends.  
- Margins: 1-inch margins on all sides.  
- Page Numbers: Number all pages consecutively.  

3. Submission Process
Submit manuscripts online via the GHR submission system. Include the following:  
- Cover Letter  
- Manuscript File (Title Page, Abstract, Main Text, References, Figures, and Tables)  
- Supplementary Data (if applicable)  

Ensure all files are labeled clearly and uploaded in the required formats.

4. Ethical Considerations 
- Authors must ensure compliance with ethical guidelines for research involving humans or animals.  
- Provide approval details from an institutional ethics review board where applicable.  
- Include a statement of informed consent for studies involving human participants.  

5. Citation Style 
GHR follows the AMA Citation Style. Please adhere to the following format:  

- In-text Citations: Use superscript numbers in numerical order, placed after punctuation marks. Example: "The study revealed significant findings in patient outcomes.^1"  
- Reference List: Number references sequentially in the order they are cited in the text. Do not alphabetize.

   Example: National Institute of Health. Liver disease guidelines. NIH Website. https://nih.gov/liver-guidelines. Published January 10, 2022. Accessed November 18, 2024.  

6. Conflict of Interest 
All authors must disclose any conflicts of interest related to the study. A statement must be included in the manuscript's acknowledgments section.

7. Copyright and Licensing 
Authors retain copyright but grant GHR the right to publish and distribute their work under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY).

By submitting to GHR, authors affirm that their manuscript complies with these guidelines and that the work has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Non-compliance may result in rejection or delays in processing.  

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
